10-Year-Old Who Vanished on Hunting Trip with Grandfather Found Dead from Gunshot Wound

A 10-year-old West Virginia boy was found dead days after he went missing while hunting with his grandfather, according to multiple media reports.

The boy, identified in his online obituary as Wyatt Eaves-Nibert, had gone missing Saturday morning in Point Pleasant, West Va.,West Virginia MetroNewsreported, citing the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. He was found dead Sunday with a single gunshot wound.

“Wyatt was very trained on gun safety," Wyatt’s mother, Adrienne Nibert toldWCHS. “He knew not to walk around without the safety off and he knew to carry the gun on his back with it pointed in the air. He had very good trigger discipline.”

Adrienne, told WCHS that her son was best friends with his grandfather and that the pair went squirrel hunting. She told the outlet that Wyatt and his grandfather were eating lunch when Wyatt said he was going to go for a walk to look for squirrels. When Wyatt’s grandfather yelled out for him after cleaning up, he could not find him, Adrienne said.

According to his obituary, Wyatt “enjoyed hunting, fishing, wrestling, heavy metal music and anything to do with the military.”

WSAZ 3reported that Wyatt’s body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation.
