Car crashes into preschool in Anderson

Fourteen children were hospitalized after a Suzuki SUV crashed into Great Adventures Preschool and Daycare in Anderson, California.

The incident occurred Thursday afternoon just before 2:30 p.m., the Anderson Police Department announced in astatement. 19 children and two adults were inside the daycare located on the corner of Balls Ferry Road and Martha Street when the car collided into the building.

A number of other agencies including the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office, Mercy Medical Center, Redding Police Department, Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, Shasta Regional Medical Center and California Highway Patrol offered assistance at the scene of the crash.

An investigation is ongoing, with more details expected to be released soon.

The Anderson Police Department didn’t immediately return PEOPLE’s request for comment.
