'American Idol' Mentor Bobby Bones Reveals the Top 20 Performers' Biggest Challenges

Though they’ve made theAmerican IdolTop 20, the remaining contestants are still facing challenges.

“Tell me about this group so far,” Seacrest, 44, asks Bones in the clip. “What have you been focused on? What’s been getting your attention?”

“It’s such a diverse group of artists and it’s really them playing to their strengths inside their diversity,” says Bones, 38.

“What’s been the biggest challenge?” asks Seacrest.

“I think you have some great performers that are struggling with their stage presence,” Bones responds. “So it’s really trying to find what they’re strong at, and then get better on the other side of it. So, that’s what we’re working on.”

In December, Bones announced that he would be joining the next seasonIdolas the show’s in-house mentor.

On the last season ofIdol, theDancing with the Starschampion joined the Top 24 contestants as they prepared to take the stage with their all-star celebrity duet partners. This time around, he’ll be with them every step of the way.

“For me, to be back in a place where I actually know what I’m talking about — because I just got off a show where I had no idea what I was doing for three months at all — it’s really exciting to come and actually know a little bit,” hepreviously told PEOPLE.
